Mario Esteman Alvarez Benitez, of Dumfries, became the focus of an investigation thanks to a tip from Fairfax County police in August, Prince William County police said.
A search warrant at Benitez's home turned up child porn, and Benitez was charged with one count of possession of child porn and nine counts of possession of child porn as a second offense.
While Benitez was charged as a second offense, authorities explain that the way the code section is written,"the initial charge of possession is enough to then charge possession in the second for each instance after, even if it is the same day."
He was arrested on Monday, Sept. 11 and held without bond.
